The Executive Council of the NLFL is a democratically elected body represented by the respective labour leaders from affiliates of the Federation.  The basic structure of the NLFL consists of three Executive Officers elected at the bi-annual convention, an Executive Council with representatives from the various affiliated unions, and a number of Standing Committees. The Regional and Provincial Directors of the CLC, as well as the Presidents of the CLC's District Labour Councils throughout the province, also sit as non-voting members on the Executive Council.  The executive council guides the work of the Federation as it fulfills its mandate which is to “promote the interests of its affiliates and generally to advance the economic and social welfare of workers in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
