Labour Rights PDF Print E-mail

The issue of labour rights and the rights of working people are fundamental rights that are critical to advancing democracy and social and economic well being in any society.   According to research by the National Union of Provincial Government Employees (NUPGE), over 97% of the 180 labour laws passed in Canada in the last 25 years have not advanced, but rather restricted labour rights.   Rights such as Freedom of Association and the right to free collective bargaining are well established as fundamental human rights. These rights are enshrined in a number of international documents originating in the United Nations and the International Labour Organization.  The NLFL will continue to advance the rights of workers with the intent of making Newfoundland and Labrador a better place to live and work.

You can download the NLFL's brief "Labour Rights are Human Rights" here.
