The Forestry Safety Association Newfoundland and Labrador (FSANL) was established in June 2009.

The FSANL was formed to become the leading authority of Occupational Health and Safety services for the prevention of workplace injury, illness and disease and the safe and timely return to work of injured workers in the Newfoundland and Labrador forestry sector.

The not-for-profit organization emerged following a year of intensive discussions and Province-wide industry consultations and is governed by a joint labour / employer board of directors.

The FSANL mission is to:

• Lead the Newfoundland and Labrador forestry sector in the promotion and development of a positive industry-wide safety and environmentally conscious culture;
• Create added value for members through the identification and coordination of timely, cost-effective, globally recognized Occupational Health and Safety training, and through the provision of Return to Work program advice;
• Assist members in the reduction of human, social, economic and environmental losses as a result of work related injuries, illness and disease.
